Digital Telecommunication Journalism Awards for Cambodian Journalists
AKP Phnom Penh, May 30, 2011 —Top three journalists on May 27 earned the Digital Telecommunication Journalism Awards co-organized by the Club of Cambodian Journalists and Beeline, a leading telecommunication company in Cambodia.
Secretary of State of the Ministry of Information H.E. Thach Phen who presided over the awarding ceremony considered the initiative as a mechanism to improve the capacity of Cambodian journalists to catch up with the latest development of telecommunication technology in a manner that will enable them to provide accurate and timely information to readers.
Judged by the quality of their writing pieces, the first award was presented to the Phnom Penh Post reporter Tha Piseth. Radio France International reporter Leang Delux and Phnom Penh Post reporter Ung Chamroeun earned the second and third awards.
According to the President of the Club of Cambodian Journalists Mr. Pen Samitthy, the club and Beeline introduced a training course aiming to equip the journalists with necessary expertise to cover modern telecommunication-related issues have been provided before starting the awarding process.
