8 NATO soldiers killed in Afghan blasts were American
Kabul, Afghanistan (CNN) -- All eight NATO soldiers killed by two blasts in southern Afghanistan this week were American, a Pentagon spokesman said Friday. The eight died Thursday when two improvised explosive devices blew up in Shorabak District, a remote about 100 kilometers (62 miles) south of Kandahar, according to NATO's the International Security Assistance Force.
It's the same region in which Taliban forces unleashed multiple attacks earlier this month in their so-called spring offensive.
The devices exploded one after the other, a coalition official said.
Both U.S. and Canadian troops are deployed in the region
