Novak Djokovic maintained his unbeaten run at Roland Garros, Wednesday, to set up a clash with Juan Martin del Potro.
(CNN) -- Novak Djokovic clocked up his 41st consecutive win of the season in the second round at Roland Garros on Wednesday, as his opponent Victor Hanescu was forced to retire.
Djokovic was leading two sets to love (6-4 6-1) when the Romanian succumbed to a leg injury early on in the third set.
"It's never easy to see an opponent giving up. It's bad luck for him. I played well and it's good to spend as little time on court as possible," said Djokovic, AFP reported.
A sterner test awaits in the third round as the Serb faces Juan Martin del Potro.
It should be a beautiful match with Novak. It'll be a special occasion against a great player. He's the favourite, but I will try and fight for the victory

The Argentine booked his place earlier in the day beating Slovenia's Blaz Kavcic 6-3 6-2 6-4.
"It should be a beautiful match with Novak. It'll be a special occasion against a great player. He's the favorite, but I will try and fight for the victory," del Potro said, AFP reported.
Should Djokovic win that match he will be just two matches away from equaling John McEnroe's record for an undefeated start to the season, set in 1984.
Third-seed Roger Federer is also safely through to the next round after an emphatic 6-3 6-0 6-2 win over France's Maxime Teixeira.
The French qualifier broke Federer's serve early in the first set but the 2009 champion quickly regained the advantage to secure victory in just 84 minutes.
Up next for Federer is the 29th seed Janko Tipsarevic from Serbia who beat Spain's Pere Riba 6-1 6-3 6-0.
"It was a good match. I'm happy with the way I played. I feel like I am in the tournament now," Federer said, AFP reported.
Seventh seed David Ferrer also booked his place in the last 32 with a straight sets 6-3 6-4 6-2 win over Julien Benneteau.
Ninth seed Gael Monfils beat compatriot Guillaume Rufin in four sets 6-3 1-6 6-1 6-3.
